This Website has been designed and built to be fully compliant with WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) at a minimum rating of "AA". This means we aim to meet the standard required for Local Government Websites.This accessibility statement documents the measures taken to meet the needs of disabled users.

Standards compliance

Valid XHTML 1.0 StrictThe pages on this Website have been built to validate as XHTML 1.0 Strict, and are coded using structured semantic markup. H1 tags are used for main titles, H2, H3 and H4 tags for subtitles. This site uses cascading style sheets for visual layout. In addition, the following usability features have been enabled as follows:

Links

Many links have title attributes, which describe the link in greater detail. Links have been signposted so that they will make sense even out of context. For screen readers, there are links to skip to the navigation and skip to the content on each page.

Images

All content images used in this site include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes. Complex images include inline descriptions to explain the significance of each image to non-visual readers.

Fonts

This site uses only relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified text size option in visual browsers. Font sizes can be scaled using the Browser's 'Text Size' option (usually under the view menu).
